National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) bursary.
APPLICATIONS
- Visit www.nsfas.co.za and create your “myNSFAS” account.
- After creating your account, log in, click the APPLY tab & fill in your details.
- Upload your supporting documents & click SUBMIT
- You will receive a SMS and email with a reference number confirming that your application has successfully be submitted. If you do not receive a REFERENCE number you have not successfully applied.
You can apply through:
- Online
- NSFAS head office
- TVET college bursary offices
CRITERIA for BURSARY APPLICATIONS
1.All South African citizens
2.All SASSA grant recipients qualifies for funding
3.Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
4.Person with disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
5.Students who started studying before 2018 whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum
6.Students must be registered or intending to register on an NC (V) or Report 191 programme.
7.In need of financial assistance (a Means Test is administered to determine whether or not a student meet this criterion).
8.Able to demonstrate potential for academic success.
9. For NSFAS QUALIFYING students we pay for:
* Registration & Tuition Fees
* Personal Care Allowance
* Transport Allowance/
* Accommodation Allowance
THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS APPLY:
1.Students may not enrol for less than three (3) subjects.
2.Only students that were academically successful will be considered for the next cycle academic level.
3.NSFAS reserves the right to verify the information on the application form. This information will be treated as confidential.
4.Employer students may not apply.
5.100% class attendance is expected to qualify for the transport and accommodation allowance.
6.Bursary recipients who switch from one programme to another (i.e. from NC (V) to Report 191 programmes: N1 – N3 or vice-versa) or change programmes within an NC (V) or Report 191 programme during the course of their studies are not eligible for financial assistance
7.Bursary recipients who complete NC (V) Level 4 are eligible for financial assistance should they want to enrol for Report 191 N4 – N6.
DOCUMENTATION TO BE SUBMITTED to COMPLETE ENROLMENT AND NSFAS APPLICATION.
1.Four original certified copies of student’s ID.
2.Original certified copy of parent’s/guardian’s/spouses’ ID.
3.Original certified copies of ID of each member of the household.
4.One copy of original certified copy of parent’s/guardian’s/spouses’ payslip.
5.One copy of most recent school report or statement of results.
6.Proof of death in event that parents are deceased.
7.Affidavit of parents/guardians if they are unemployed
8.Transport Allowance:
Students who reside further than ten (10) kilometres from the college may considered for an award for travel allowance, subject to the availability of funds.
Students who use public transport MAY only submit an affidavit of monthly transport cost if receipts/tickets/slips are not available. Please state route and daily fare.
9.Accommodation Allowance:
Students whose home address is further than forty (40) kilometres from the college may be considered for an award for accommodation allowance, subject to the availability of funds. Students who pay rent for accommodation must please included rental address, monthly amount, name and contact number of landlord.
PLEASE NOTE:
1.Parents/guardians/spouses/students will be held responsible for the payment of the tuition and other fees until the bursary is paid to Westcol.
3.Should the students be awarded a bursary the paid fees will be refunded.
4.You will be informed regarding the outcome of the bursary application by NSFAS.
5.All bursary applications are subjects to the approval by National Student Funding Scheme (NSFAS).
6.Start attending classes immediately, DO NOT wait for the outcome of the bursary applications.
7.NSFAS requires that you provide a cell phone number or an email address so that NSFAS can communicate with you during the application process, and to inform you of the outcome of your application.
8. All certified copies must not be older than three months, please ensure that you complete all sections of the application form and attach all supporting documents. You must write your identity number on every page of all your supporting documents in order for your application to be processed.
9.If you are a student with a disability, you must complete an additional form, available on the NSFAS website, and will be required to provide a medical certificate in support of your disability condition
