CONTINUING EDUCATION AND TRAINING (CET) ACT NO 16 OF 2006 (AS AMENDED)
INVITATION FOR NOMINATIONS OF MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC TO BE APPOINTED TO SERVE ON THE COUNCIL OF WESTERN TECHNICAL AND VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING COLLEGES (TVET)
Western TVET College is a Technical Vocational Education and Training College, operating in terms of the Continuing Education and Training Act, Act 16 of 2006 (As amended), under the auspices of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET).
The college has campuses / delivery sites in Carletonville, Krugersdorp, Randfontein and Westonaria.
The college hereby invites members of the public to nominate suitable, qualified and experienced people of good standing in the community, with a good understanding of the functioning of a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College, the Continuing Education and Training (CET) Act of 2006, as amended, and the importance of partnerships between TVET colleges and industry, to serve in the Council of the college, in terms of Section 10 (6) of the CET Act, Act 16 of 2006, as amended. The College Council in consultation with the Minister of Higher Education and Training will make the appointment.
Four additional positions to be appointed by the Council will be available, with effect from 15 August 2024. Furthermore, the members (nominees) are to be nominated by a member of the public (nominator) supported by a witness. Nominees are required to attach certified copies of their qualifications and identity documents to their nomination forms. All nominees will be subjected to vetting processes.
The skills or attributes necessary for consideration for the positions are good mix or combination:
- Financial Management, including auditing, skills and experience
- Experience and qualifications in Human Resources and Labour Legislation
- Experience and qualification in IT, IT governance and Computer Science
- Experience and qualifications in Law
- The applicant should have knowledge of participation in governance structures preferable relating to Higher Education
- Industry experience at senior management level exceeding 3-years will be an added advantage.

The closing date for nominations is: 29 July 2024 and nominations are to be addressed to: The Principal, Western TVET College by courier/hand delivery at 42 Johnstone Street, Hectorton, Randfontein.
Late nominations will be disqualified
